Hello to our amazing counselors!
My hope is that this blog will help us to complete some of our training, but also to become a place where we can gather and reflect on our experiences with camp. I am excited to try this new way of training and excited for us to continue growing in our relationships together and with God. More posts to come--it's time to get this ball rolling! :-) Once you have seen this welcome message, post a comment so we know you've seen it!
Much love, Christie
Hi Christie!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of keeping a blog for Choir Camp. This is a great way to stay connected - especially if you happen to live across the country!
Katie
Surprise, surprise, Katie wants to use it to keep in touch with people across the country ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have tried several times but my posts don't show up! Hope this one does!
DeleteFrankly, I still think that you should all move to California. But I get resistance to that plan for some reason!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like we might be out that way SOME time n the future, as our best man is getting engaged....and is getting married in cali. San fran, of course.
DeleteWOOOHOOO! I'm just assuming this means that you might be taking a trip out here sometime in the future. :-D
DeleteVery excited for this blog! :)
ReplyDeleteErin
Katie's mom likes it too! Sorry to miss the meeting - please add to your list of "who is doing what" that I'll do nametags and also do the administration of contract classes. I assume you'd still like Dan and I to do Olympics? New counselors, beware!
ReplyDeleteMom - those things were of course assumed! Fear not. :-)
DeleteWhat a great idea and what a great meeting on Saturday!
ReplyDeleteAmy Deramus said...I am working on the input and welcome everyone elses!!
ReplyDeleteI will miss you all this summer! I am so sorry I cannot be there this year! i will be up friday night and through to the concert on Saturday. If there are any behind the scenes things, i would love to help out.
ReplyDeleteHi Christie-I found you! Do you think we should do Broadway Melodies again or is that getting old? And if Sara needs any assistance in the bell contract class, I can help.
ReplyDeleteWhat does everyone think about Twylia's question....does Broadway Melodies seem to be getting old for your campers?
ReplyDeleteI like it but it may draw a lot of the same kids as bells will.
DeleteSara - can we do a counselor bell group - maybe for free expression? I'm so excited to play again!
ReplyDeleteyep, that would be fun. Did that several years ago when I had the bells there last time. There are several on the counseling staff that know how to ring.
DeleteMe too! I'd love to ring at camp. BTW - I found everybody and I'll start blogging now too.
DeleteCount me in! That sounds like fun!
DeleteHey, Can I play too? I haven't rung since my kids were toddlers. But, once a ringer, always a ringer?
DeleteDo I smell a counselor "skit"???
DeleteI will see what I can do about having a tune (something fun!) for the counselors. At the meeting, Devon "chimed" right in about wanting to play bells! (Sorry - couldn't resist that one!) As we get closer, I may need to enlist some help in getting all the equipment transported up to Camp.
ReplyDeleteThat's the main reason we haven't done bells for several years. I used to have to put a carrier on top of the mini-van to get all the foam to camp (along with all of my kids' luggage and other stuff). It was really quite comical to see us driving down the road with just enough room for me to see out my mirrors :) .
DeleteI am all for doing a counselor group...IF I can call dibs on F5/G5! :-)
ReplyDeleteI do not think that Broadway Melodies has run its course. Keep it going until the interest wanes. It was a good meeting on Saturday. It is wonderful to see the strength of Choir Camp to transition into a new era of leadership.
ReplyDeleteI am working on the input and would love to hear from you all on 2 things. 1st - what values (Hope,Love, Forgiveness etc.) do you feeling stongly should be a day's scripture theme. 2nd - What favorite Bible verses can you reccomend. I can't promise I will use your suggestion but I will definitely take it seriously and gratefully!!
ReplyDeleteAmy - love your inputs! Favorite passage is Eli and Samuel with God calling Samuel. God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called! Not sure what "app" this would fit but I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks both for the compliment and the scripture! I really appreciate your contributing.
DeleteMONDAY: There’s an app for FAITH.
ReplyDeleteHebrews 11:6 But without faith no one can please God. We must believe that God is real and that he rewards everyone who searches for him.
This is part of my first draft. Just to give you an idea of what I am thinking.
For now I have the apps as Faith, Peace, Forgiveness & Love, Justice. But I am open to suggestions.
ReplyDeleteService?
ReplyDeleteI think hope is an important one too... We know that kids just don't get enough of that these days.
ReplyDeleteHow about "Joy"? We could make the distinction between joy and happiness.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the INPUT. I like the ideas you've posted and in fact I have already changed Monday's scripture twice since I posted it. Faith includes trust, hope, and freedom from fear. Peace will include co-operation, non-bullying, kindness and respect. Keep the suggestions comin'!
ReplyDeleteWhat would you all say to a section in the Camp newsletter for "Counselor and Camper favorite scriptures"?
ReplyDeleteI am here. Sorry it took so long
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to be joining this year as a counselor! Now, we just have to get my sister officially signed up as a camper... :)
